      According to the preface, the book is "for the mistress, not for the cook, therefore no recipes are contained in it'. LB dates this edition 1892.
      OPo(F) has a second copy bound in red cloth. The only apparent difference between the two copies is in the presentation of the printer's name on page 184. The copy bound in blue-green cloth reads, "Printed by Ballantyne, Hanson & Co. Edinburgh & London'. The red-cloth copy reads, "Printed by Ballantyne, Hanson and Co. London and Edinburgh.' Page 184 of the LB, LoEN and WYoLU(B) copies matches the blue-green-cloth version; the DLC and LWel copies are as the red-cloth volume.
