      Mrs MacLean signs the preface "Aunt Lizzie', the pseudonym under which she wrote her recipes for "Temperance news'. The "Co' of "Aunt Lizzie and Co' on the binding refers to all those who contributed recipes to the book which was compiled for sale at the British Women's Temperance Association Bazaar held in Glasgow in October 1905.

According to the foreword, it was published "with valuable additions, and revised by a domestic science expert' when the Temperance Association was preparing to celebrate its jubilee.% General comments: OPo(F) holds "British women's cookery book' compiled by Mrs A. S. Patterson and Miss Flora Patterson, Edinburgh: The B.W.T.A., S.C.U., [1950]. This is an entirely new collection of recipes under the same title.% 2551
