STEEDMAN, Miss M. E.

M. E. Steedman, author of "Home-made beverages and American drinks", is probably the same person as Miss M. E. Steedman of Birmingham who compiled the recipes in "The Milky Way housewife's book" of 1906 (see under the title for a description of the latter volume).

The preface is signed "C. H. S.", the initials of Charles Herman Senn who is cited as co-author in later editions.
EngCat lists an 88-page edition costing 1s published by Simpkin in July 1908. An advertisment for "Home-made beverages and American drinks" in the 1909 edition of Charles Herman Senn's "Cookery for invalids" gives the price of 1s for a paper-bound copy and 1s 6d for cloth-bound. The publisher's advertisement following page 87 in the LCF volume catalogued here suggests that the LCF volume may be the first edition of 1908 cited in EngCat, despite the discrepancy in publisher: the advertisement is for editions of Senn's works, most of which were issued in 1907 and none later than 1908.
LCS holds a copy which appears to match the LCF volume except that no price is printed on the binding.
