      The copyright date is from the verso of the title-page on which is printed "Copyrighted in England, America, etc, by Sidney H. Beard, 1900." The accession date on the MCe copy is 29 March 1901 and the library dates the book 1900.
      There are 136 numbered vegetarian recipes, and pages 71-72 explain "What to do at Christmas'. A synopsis of the recipes is on page 102, and the index on page 103. Some leaves (probably advertisements) must be missing from the MCe copy since, on page 5 of the preface, the author refers the reader to page 107 for a list of publications. The advertisement on page i says that profits from the sale of the book will benefit the work of The Order of the Golden Age.

      This edition has 156 numbered recipes. Printed on the verso of the title-page is "Copyright by Sidney H. Beard, 1900." Note that on the title-page only a single quotation-mark follows "...Golden Age.', inconsistent with the double quotation-marks which precede the magazine's name.% 0124

      The publication date is from the preface to the fifth edition which is signed "Sidney H. Beard. Barcombe Hall, Paignton, England. January 1st, 1906." The 187 numbered recipes are preceded and followed by much information on vegetarian diet and cookery.
      The OB copy is bound in blue limp cloth with a corresponding change of price on the title-page: "Price | one shilling net | (post free).' replaces "Price 1/6 net | (post free).'
      NUCat records a copy of the fifth edition at NN but does not specify if it is the thirtieth thousand.% 0125

      This edition is advertised on page 34 of the fifth edition, fiftieth thousand, of Dr Josiah Oldfield's "The penny guide to fruitarian diet and cookery' published in Paignton by The Order of the Golden Age in 1906. It cost 1s bound in art linen, 18d post free for art linen boards, and 2s or 50 cents post free for the American and colonial editions.% 0126
