    • 1. "The country handbooks', edited by Dr Harry Roberts, was advertised as "an illustrated series of practical handbooks dealing with country life, suitable for the pocket or knapsack'. Only two numbers in the series contain enough cookery material to be included in this bibliography: No. 1, "The tramp's handbook" by Dr Harry Roberts; and No. 4, "The still-room" by Mrs Julia Anne Elizabeth Roundell and Dr Harry Roberts. No. 9, "The sailing handbook" by Clove Hitch, which is not described here, has six pages devoted to cooking on a sail-boat.% 1142
