      The frontispiece is entitled "Cupids play with love darts to win hearts and gain stomachs'. Above this title is "Copyrighted, 1909 [{{sic}}], by John M. Dagnall.' On the verso of the title-page is "Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1898'. The book was printed in New York by Vincent Dill, Electrotyper.
      The author says in the preface that he has inquired into "the innate workings of gastronomy in connection with psychology' and found that "the real seat of love... is... located in the stomach'. The text is a mixture of prose and poetry to support this thesis.
      Copies examined at other libraries differ slightly in detail. LB has two copies. One is bound in blue cloth and has a label mounted over the original imprint which reads, "London: Simpkin, Marshall, Hamilton, Kent and Co Ltd, 1900". The second copy is bound in purple cloth and is described by LB as imperfect, lacking a frontispiece; however, it appears never to have had one.
