A. W. Oxford was a noted collector and bibliographer. His two volumes on English cookery books are major sources of reference.

In Chapters I-VIII, pages 1-38, Oxford discusses his different interests in collecting which range from cards, games and silver to books and clocks. Appendix A, pages 39-109, is a bibliography of cookery books in three parts: "English books on cookery and carving up to the year 1699", pages 40-96; "Cookery books from 1700", pages 97-107; and "Foreign books. Mss.", pages 108-109. Appendices B and C are not concerned with cookery.
The WYoLU(B) copy is signed by the author "Annae Reginae A. W. O. July 3. 1911."
