There is a photograph of Samuel Hobbs on page 4. LB, LoEN, OB and NUCat date the book [1886]. EngCat lists this title published by Dean in 1886 at 10s 6d. An advertisement in the thirteenth edition of "Gunter's confectioner' cites the price of 15s for leather, and 10s 6d for cloth, gilt boards.
The LB copy, which is rebound, has three pages of advertisements following the three pages of publisher's advertisements at the back of the book. The OB copy is the version issued in twelve monthly parts at 6d for the January to October issues and 1s for the November and December issues; it retains the original paper binding for each part.% General comments: Axford 240 lists an edition dated 1886 without brackets. I have not found a copy to match this description.
