      1. The only known reference to this work is in Scots Mag., vol. 16 (Apr. 1754), pp. 207-8. A 'reviewer' writing under 'miscellaneous' states: 'In this work, though the author protests that he neither understands nor desires to understand grammar . . . his book is an epitome of all knowledge; and contains almost every species of literary composition, from a receipt in cookery to a theological dissertation.'
