SCHARLIEB, Mary Ann Dacomb   1845-1930

Dame Mary Scharlieb studied at the Madras medical school, the London School of Medicine for Women and at London University, where she received her M.D. in 1888. She was later senior surgeon at the New Hospital for Women and gynaecologist at the Royal Free Hospital. In 1926 she was awarded the D.B.E.
