      Red and blue cloth gilt, richly embellished.
      This is one of "Beeton's everyday handbooks', with a probable date of circa 1880. Beeton's connection with the book is unlikely to have amounted to more than Ward Lock's use of his name. More than half of the contents are devoted to the house, its decoration and furnishings, and much of this material is based on Charles Eastlake's "Hints on household taste'. The plates mostly show articles of furniture in approved "artistic' styles.
