TIMBS, John   1801-1875


John Timbs edited a number of periodicals between 1828 and 1858 including "Arcana of science and art', "The Harlequin, the journal of the drama', "The illustrated year-book of wonders, events and discoveries', "Mirror of literature' and "Literary world'. He also sub-edited the "Illustrated London News' from 1842 to 1858, and published numerous anthologies and miscellanies.
