Another imprint on the verso of the half-title has "Simpkin, Marshall, Hamilton, Kent & Co Ltd'. They were evidently the publishers although the printers' name is given on the title-page. The Leadenhall Press was a speciality press influenced by the ideas of William Morris, as the decorative motif on this title-page shows. The text, optimistically addressed to servants, gives advice on general conduct and on methods of working which would safeguard their employers' property, besides ensuring quiet, comfort and privacy for their masters and mistresses.
