The preface is signed "Francis Dingle. 34 Dalmeny Road, Tufnell Park, London, N. April, 1904.' In the preface the author emphasises that the book was not written for the trade but for "those who desire a knowledge of the work either as an art, a hobby, or (in the case of cooks) for their own betterment'.% @OB dates its copy [1904]; however, the year of publication does appear on the title-page. The OB copy is bound in blue cloth.
