The new edition probably precedes the seventh edition since there is still a comma following "economy' on the title-page, following the pattern of the first and fifth editions. An advertisement on page v at the back of the book which cites a medal won at the Food and Cookery Exhibition of 1895 suggests that this edition was published about that date.% 2168
