1. Although the main title only is different, this work is either an anonymous edition or a pirated version of a previously cited book; see under earlier entry: PARTRIDGE, Ann, The new and complete universal cook.
2. The frontispiece is identical to one which has been used in two previously cited books; see under earlier entries: PARTRIDGE, Ann, The new and complete universal cook, and PRICE, Elizabeth, The new, universal, and complete confectioner; see notes at the end of entries for these three works in Oxford, pp. 91, 110, and 111.
3. Oxford has assessed the approximate date of publication as '1760', and the copy listed in B. & G. Cat., No. 37, p. 13, has been dated 'ca. 1780', It is much more likely that the book was published in or about the same year as the works named in note 2; i.e. c. 1780.
