      The author says in the preface that "this work has been compiled with a view of enabling recherche2 little Anglo-French dinners for six or eight to be easily prepared by an English plain cook'. The text comprises thirty menus, each followed by the corresponding recipes. There is an appendix with sections on such topics as savoury toasts and cooking macaroni.
      The author's name is spelled "Evelyn de Rivaz' on the front of the binding.
