WHITLING, Miss Lilian   


EpicureDir 1899, page 105, lists Miss Lilian Whitling as a teacher of cookery with a First-class Diploma from the National Training School, No. 411, 18 June 1891. Her position is given as Staff Teacher, National Training School of Cookery, and her address, 152 Holbein House, Sloane Square, London SW.

      "First published in 1908" is printed on the verso of the title-page. LB, MCe and OB date the book [1908]. The OB copy has the original dust-jacket citing the price of 7s 6d glued to the front end-paper.
      In the preface Miss Whitling says she modelled her book on "The Boston cookery book" by Mrs M. J. Lincoln".
      OPo(F) holds a copy with publisher's advertisements dated September 1911.
