      The series name, "Country life library', is on the binding. This first edition was issued in November 1908 according to the publishing history given in the third and fourth editions. LoEN dates its copy, acquired in January 1909, [1909], as do LB and OB.

      The second edition was issued in November 1909 according to the publishing history cited in the third and fourth editions. LB dates this enlarged edition [1910].
      The LCS and NNNAM copies have an unpaginated leaf of advertisements preceding the half-title. The LWel copy, which also has this extra leaf of advertisements, is bound in paper, with a chef tasting from a spoon on front. The price of 1s is cited on the paper binding.% 2332
