    Printed on the title-page is the quotation "Some hae meat and canna eat, and some wad eat that want it. We hae meat and we can eat, and sae the Lord be thankit. The Selkirk grace. Burns."
    Philip R. Gibbs of St Michael and All Angels reports that the book was published in 1914 to raise funds for a new church hall. His information comes from a souvenir brochure issued at the time of the opening of the hall.
