""Experientia docet."" is printed at the top of the title-page of this edition. The sentence, with the same quotation-marks and punctuation, also heads the title-pages of all the later editions that I have examined, except for the 1954 edition where the words are not enclosed by quotation-marks and there is no full stop.
In the preface, which is signed "L. Sykes. Lake Road, Windermere.", the author says that the book is now available in two styles: cloth-bound and interleaved with ruled paper at 2s; or paper-bound and not interleaved at 1s. She adds that linen covers can also be supplied, worked or traced only.
The text contains 1,099 numbered recipes and other items.
    LB dates this edition [1914].
