    The title and imprint are from a photocopy of the title-page provided by a private collector.% General comments: "General axioms for plain cookery' which forms the second part of the book was also published separately. OB has a copy of this slim 8-page booklet with the imprint "London: Hazell, Watson and Viney, Printers to the Board' issued in 1888.
    In the 1880s the School Board for London issued a cookery manual with a title similar to the cover-title of the book by Briggs described here.
