  The introduction states "This work is a complete manual for a domestic and is written in a style clear to the meanest capacity'. The book seems mainly intended for menservants, and an advertisement at the end of the text for a book entitled "The footman's guide, and man- servant's adviser' probably refers to this work, despite the different title.
