    LB, LoEN and OB date the book [1912]. Oddly, page 17 is the first printed page. No leaves are missing.
    Each of the 231 numbered recipes is credited with the name of the contributor. On pages 113-115 there is a list of those who sent recipes or subscriptions. Although the book is dedicated on page 21 "to all those interested in the relief of the sick and suffering', no indication is given of any specific fund to which the profits were to be donated.
    An advertisement for the book in Dora Groome's "Up-to-date and economical cookery', London: Jarrold and Sons, nd [1912], states, "This original book was prepared and arranged by a lady of title. Though intended primarily for private circulation, its popularity became so great the compiler agreed to its publication in a more permanent form.' The advertisement cites the price of 1s 6d for the book.
