    The printer has omitted the closing quotation-marks following "The skilful cook' on the title-page. Pages 487-510 are blank for "manuscript recipes'.

    The verso of the title-page of the 1929 edition and Axford 262 and Bitting 216 say that the first edition was published in 1893. This is incorrect since Sampson Low, Marston and Co Ltd issued an edition in 1891. I have not found a copy of the 1893 edition.% 2057
