Apart from the removal of all references to the American edition, the title-page in this facsimile edition has been reproduced exactly from the original, which explains the odd punctuation. Presumably the publishers feared that the book's American connection would detract from its present-day appeal to a British market. The dust-jacket bears the title "The Victorian housewife's friend'.
