1. The author, whose father was also a cook, described himself as 'Lately Cook to his Grace the Duke of Argyll, the Earl of Pontefract, the Lord Cornwallis, etc.'.
2. Mon.Cat./2 (vol. 2), p. 2 (Jan. 1730), confirms that the price was 16 sh.
3. The ENLS copy contains the bookplate of Sir George Steuart of Grantully, Bart.
4. The NYPL copy is part of the Whitney Cookery Collection, which was donated by the will of Mrs Helen Hay Whitney.
