    The BMCat lists an edition of "The family cyclopaedia; being a manual of useful and necessary knowledge, alphabetically arranged; comprising all the recent inventions, discoveries, and improvements in domestic economy, agriculture and chemistry, etc.' as published London: 1821. The book was in two parts, each with distinct title- page and pagination.

    There is a preface to the second edition, dated 1822. This edition is cited in Oxford, p.151.
    The asterisked pagination is from the additional notices and observations placed after the preface to the second edition. The engraved frontispiece showing a family gathering is signed "Cruikshank' and dated 1820. The plate, dated 1821 and signed "J. Bacon', is the author's "Psychograph' which purports to illustrate "human faculties & qualities, or the germs of them, at birth'.
