1. The author describes herself as 'sole teacher of these arts in Edinburgh, several years colleague and afterwards successor to Mrs. M’Iver [sic] deceased?. Her work is clearly based on a book published by her colleague in 1773; see under later entry: MACIVER, Susanna, Cookery and pastry.
