    Printed on the front of the binding is "You cannot tell a nut till it is cracked < You cannot tell a recipe till it is tried < Rare recipes collected by Deolee < 2/6 nett'. The author says in the preface, which is signed "Deolee. August, 1912.', that "this [book] is not intended to be a cookery book, but a few good recipes from private collections'. There are, in fact, 265 numbered recipes. The printer's name is on page 55.
